A Girl And Her Violin • RI Children's Photographer

When you were a kid, did you play an instrument? If so, what was it? I never played one in school, though I taught myself to play the piano a bit and had fun making up songs on my family’s electronic keyboard. However, I was always a little jealous of my younger brother, who took up the clarinet in middle school, practiced hard, and got to play in school band concerts. It made me proud to see him play the song he’d been practicing for months in concert!

Recently, I was able to do a session in my studio in Charlestown with a young lady and her violin. This was such a fun session! We wanted to create some classic looking portraits. She got to wear a green velvet dress that my aunt wore to my parents’ wedding in 1975! As a RI Children’s photographer, I’ve got a ton of princess dresses…AND there are some other very interesting and retro pieces in the client closet! It’s not every day that the strains of violin music fill the studio, but during this session, they did. Yes, some of them were from me trying to play the violin. And yes, it’s true that I should stick to photography right now.

We ended up with some amazing portraits. Do you have a saxophone virtuoso or a guitar prodigy? Let’s get some photos of them! Take a look below to see some images from our studio session.
