I just loooove when babies come visit me in the studio! When your baby is born, it’s likely your first thought is newborn photos…gosh, I love those tiny little hands and feet and soft baby cheeks.

Before long, though, your newborn is growing and changing and learning. It happens so fast and they are changing and evolving in the blink of an eye. As a RI baby photographer, I always encourage parents to get baby’s photos taken at least once between their newborn photos and their first birthday, because they grow and change SO MUCH in such a short period of time. Suddenly your tiny newborn is rolling over, sitting, finding their feet, crawling all over, and babbling.

There are lots of times that are great for getting updated photos of your baby: you can go by date milestones (3, 6, or 9 months). My recommendation is not a specific age, but rather when baby can sit unassisted but can’t yet walk. They can engage, have lots of expressions, and usually have a LOT to say, but they can’t quite get up and run away yet. Once they start walking…watch out! They’re on the move!

Miss L came to visit me in my Charlestown studio recently. I took her newborn photos last fall. Now she’s a big girl who can sit, scoot around, tell you a story, and do “so big”. It was so much fun taking her photos! She went through all the moods in a short amount of time, from happy to a little angry to just wanting her binky to happy again to over it. Girl, same. Capturing all her moods was the absolute best, and she did a great job. Take a look below to see some of the photos we captured.
